I
think it was my dad that inadvertently got me into photography - he gave
me my first camera, a Vivitar 35mm point-and-shoot. There's a story behind
that camera, and how it landed in my posession, but I'll have to tell
you that one in person. By the time I was 15, I knew I wanted to shoot models. Women have always had a major presence in my life, from the ones that surrounded me as I grew up, to the outrageously beautiful supermodels and movie stars whose images I was always ogling. A few years later, I picked up an Olympus P&S, but after seeing an Albert Watson American Photo cover of Kate Moss, I knew I needed more camera. I soon moved on to my first SLR, and now shoot primarily digital. My first published photo - a glamour shot of my third model, Johanna - appeared in the UK's Practical Photography magazine. They later published me again. I also shot various local musicians, who used my pictures for their album inlays and press kits. An interest in documenting wildlife followed that phase, and I took up hiking, and off-roading in a Jeep, while in search of the more elusive species in Florida. I've also dabbled in journalism - even received some awards for my college work, and appeared in the Miami Herald - but I have yet to fulfill a desire to visit and document life in Somalia, Israel, Colombia, and a host of other countries. In the end, I always go back to photographing gorgeous women. There's nothing more uplifting, more alluring, or more peaceful, than the look a beautiful girl can give you at any moment. I want to be there to catch that moment. |
